Manpack Basic

The RAIN Works Manpack Basic is a portable VHF/UHF 25W radio kit designed to make practical communications more accessible. Each kit includes the radio, bag, battery, charger, antenna, counterpoise, wiring, coax jumper, and standard PETG rail system with integrated BNC antenna mount.

The Basic model includes standard base channel programming and is intended for customers who want a ready-to-use portable communications setup without custom area programming.

Final sale / no refunds: All custom Manpack sales are final once the order enters the build queue, parts are allocated, or programming begins. Cancellations and refunds may not be accepted after that point. This does not limit any rights required by law for unshipped, damaged, defective, or incorrect merchandise.

Shipping and lead time: Manpacks are built in batches. Estimated build and shipping time will be displayed at checkout and may vary based on batch size, parts availability, programming complexity, and order volume. Shipping is charged as a flat rate based on the highest-rate product in the cart, not stacked per item.

Damage or defect policy: If an order arrives damaged, missing parts, or nonfunctional, the customer must contact RAIN Works within 7 days of delivery with photos and/or video. RAIN Works may repair, replace, or provide replacement parts at its discretion. Damage caused by misuse, water, heat exposure, improper charging, transmitting without a proper antenna, unauthorized modification, or user-installed accessories is not covered.

Programming disclaimer: Programming is provided as a convenience based on customer-provided locations and publicly available information at the time of build. Frequencies, repeater offsets, tones, access rules, and repeater availability may change. RAIN Works does not guarantee that any repeater is active, reachable, open, or legal for every operator to transmit on.

Range / emergency-use disclaimer: Radio range is not guaranteed. Range depends on terrain, obstructions, antenna position, repeater availability, battery charge, radio settings, interference, weather, and operator skill. RAIN Works Manpacks are not a substitute for 911, cellular service, satellite communication, public safety systems, or professional emergency equipment.

Safety & Legal Warnings

Ham license / lawful operation: RAIN Works Manpacks are intended for lawful radio use by properly licensed or authorized operators. The buyer is responsible for knowing and following FCC rules, amateur radio rules, local laws, and all frequency restrictions.

No unauthorized transmitting: Do not transmit on public safety, law enforcement, fire/EMS, aviation, marine, military, business, GMRS, FRS, MURS, or other regulated services unless you have the proper license, authorization, and legally appropriate equipment for that service.

Receive-only channels: Some channels may be programmed for receive-only monitoring. Being able to receive a frequency does not mean the customer is allowed to transmit on it.

RF exposure: This product can transmit RF energy. Keep antennas away from the body, head, face, children, pets, and bystanders while transmitting.

Antenna setup: Do not transmit without a properly connected antenna system. Loose or damaged coax, missing antenna connection, or improper setup may damage the radio and reduce performance.

Battery / electrical safety: Use only the included or approved LiFePO4-compatible charger. Do not short the battery, bypass fuses, modify wiring, use damaged cables, charge damaged batteries, or operate the system if parts become unusually hot, swollen, wet, smoking, or damaged.

Heat and durability: 3D printed PETG parts are more heat tolerant than PLA but can still deform under excessive heat. Do not store the Manpack in hot vehicles, direct sun, dashboards, garages, heaters, or other high-temperature environments for extended periods.

Not professional public safety equipment: RAIN Works Manpacks are hobby/amateur radio communication kits. They are not public safety radios, military equipment, certified life-safety gear, or a replacement for professionally maintained emergency communication systems.
